The global production of edible chestnut since the 1900s mostly remains in East Asia and mediterranean Europe. Statistical production and time-space trends in both regions are analysed for the last 50 years. Overall production decreased in the European countries and increased in East Asian countries. China’s fast increase is noteworthy after the 1990s, other countries are stagnant.
