One reason may be that it plays a central\npart in the legitimization of actions. Although often seen as an important aspect of political discourse,\nlegitimization is also a common part of everyday life whenever individuals commit acts not approved\nby others, or assert views not supported by others. By providing users with anonymity and the ability\nto connect with a wide number and range of people, Hatsugen Komachi can be a prime location to\npursue legitimization. Jōshiki appears to play a part in this as making appeals to it—and its negative,\nhijōshiki—allows posters to position themselves as rational individuals, one of Reyes’s （2011） five\nlegitimization strategies.
