Four hundreds and twenty-four university students were administered MEIS（Multidimensional Ego Identity Scale）, the intimacy sub-scale of EPSI（Erikson Psychosocial Stage Inventory）, as well as the intimacy scale developed by Tani & Harada （2011）. The results of correlational analysis and covariation structure analysis revealed that higher level of intimacy lead to higher ego-identity achievement and closer relationships with friends. However, the closeness in\nfriendship was weakly related to the ego-identity formation. The students having romantic partner\nshowed higher scores on two intimacy scales than those without. The closeness of their romantic relations significantly correlated with the scores of the intimacy scales.
