There were only a few remains that showed the text of the sutra so far. In my 2010 field survey in China, I discovered a fragmentary text of the Golden Coffin Sutra engraved on the outer stone wall of the cave site, called Taipingsi Temple Cave 太平寺摩崖 in Zhaijian Valley 窄澗谷, Qinyang City 沁陽市, Henan Province 河南省. The engraved text included the Golden Coffin Sutra, the inscription and the names of about 120 donors.  This article tried specially to interpret the inscription referring to “Emperor of Sui Dynasty”. As a result, I clarified that the inscription was written about the history of the Cave Temple which was established in the trend of great change from suppression to revival of Buddhism, and that the inscription was produced in the late 6th century to early 7th century, almost the same period as Emperor Wen built 111 stupas in all over China. Moreover, analyzing the positional relationship between the inscription and the sutra and the names of donors on the outer stone wall, I concluded that all of these were integrally engraved when creating the cave temple.}, pages = {1--24}, title = {中國における末法思想隆暜の一齣―新發現『金棺經』所刻石窟における刻記の釋讀硏究―}, year = {2020} }
