The Fahua lunshu is the latest text written by Ji-zang, and the sub-commentary to the Fahua lun (commentary to the Lotus Sutra). The Fahua lun (法華論) is the most important text for Ji-zang to understand the Lotus Sutra (the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra). The points of this study are as following. First, Ji-zang states that the most important thing for bodhisattvas is to relieve all living beings, and it is testified by one sentence in the Wisdom Sutra (Prajñāpāramitā-sūtra). In other words, bodhisattvas are the persons who relieve all living beings earnestly. Second, Ji-zang states that the merits of śrāvaka and bodhisattva are brought by the admirable friend of good knowledge, and that both of them have intention to relieve all living beings. Moreover, Ji-zang states the difference between mahāyāna and hīnayāna that there are only renunciant monks in hīnayāna but there are both laypersons and renunciant bodhisattvas in mahāyāna.}, pages = {99--128}, title = {吉蔵撰『法華論疏』の文献学的研究(4)}, year = {2020} }
