In recent years, following earnest investigations of and research on the books preserved in Japanese Buddhist temples, a few ancient manuscripts of the Gaowang jing have been discovered, including an edition collected in the “Sacred Transmitted Documents” at Kongōji. Based on findings related to the ancient manuscripts produced in the Nara period, this paper starts with a survey of the transmission of the Gaowang jing to Japan and of its scripts made in the Nara period. It then proceeds to introduce the Gaowang jing as preserved in the “Sacred Transmitted Documents” at Kongōji and examine its history. Finally, by analyzing its contents of the Kongōji edition, this paper explores the source book of the text and evaluates its values.}, pages = {47--74}, title = {金剛寺聖教本『高王観音経』の発見とその意義}, year = {2021} }
