| 内容記述 | 間テクスト性は主に言語的テクストを対象に論じられてきたが、視覚的メディアにおいてもしばしば見られる現象である。本稿では視覚的要素による間テクスト性の機能を考察するために、東村アキコの人気マンガシリーズ『東京タラレバ娘』の分析を試みる。当シリーズでは昔の少女マンガを思い起こすイメージが頻繁に出現する。そういったイメージが、読者の楽しみのために隠されたイースター・エッグとして機能するが、結末ではそれらによって立てられた期待が裏切られたため、不満にもつながったと主張する。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | Although intertextuality—the interrelationship between texts that create meanings and influence interpretations—has largely been studied as a part of linguistic texts, it can also be utilized in visual mediums through the borrowing of different images and motifs. This article specifically examines how specific examples of visual intertextuality function in Higashimura Akiko ∬ s popular manga series, Tokyo Tarareba Girls. Throughout the series, Higashimura utilizes images that are reminiscent and recall classic shōjo-manga（ girls’ manga）, which create visual intertextuality throughout the text. By creating gaps between the characters’ normal behaviors, attitudes and appearances, these images infuse the text with humor, allowing Higashimura to poke fun at shōjo-manga tropes while revealing herself to be a fan as a person of great knowledge of shōjo-manga tropes. By acting as Easter eggs, or elements hidden throughout texts for readers to find, these intertextual images create ties between readers, characters, and the author, explaining the closeness fans report feeling to the series. However, although the series earned an enthusiastic audience during its run, its ending was met by criticism and disappointment from many fans. As the ending of the series differed from the stance Higashimura demonstrated through these intertextual Easter eggs, this caused a mismatch between how readers anticipated the series would proceed. The mismatch between these images and the ending may explain fans’ mixed reactions, showing the potentially major role Easter eggs play in reader experiences. |
